TRICKS AND FITNESS

Group Class

Welcome to Tricks and Fitness

When: Mondays and Thursdays 5:30PM

Where: Dogma | 236 Crossroads Boulevard, Carmel, CA 93923

Duration: 60 Minutes

In this fun fusion class, students will learn and practice Trick Dog, Canine Fitness & Conditioning, and Dog Parkour exercises.

Through regular practice, your dog's confidence and balance will increase, receiving both a physical and mental workout. As new achievements are unlocked, your connection and relationship with your dog will improve both inside and outside the classroom. Skills honed include front and rear paw and general body awareness, nose targeting, paw targeting, impulse control, retrieval, heelwork, and distance work.

Open to dogs of all breeds and sizes

Prerequisites

  • Dogs ages 6 months and older

  • Some previous training in basic manners and obedience is helpful, but not required.

  • If your dog is not yet able to remain calm and settled for 60 minutes in close proximity to other dogs (such as on a café or restaurant patio), we recommend starting with our Obedience Group Class or book a Private Dog Training session.

Obedience classes are offered Mondays and Thursdays at 6:45pm and provide a supportive foundation to help your dog build focus, confidence, and real-world composure before transitioning into more advanced or social environments.

What to Bring

  • Flat collar and optional body harness

  • Standard 4–6 foot leash (please leave bungee and retractable leashes at home)

  • Training treat pouch worn around your waist, fully stocked with 2–3 types of treats your dog loves

Pre-break treats into pea- or rice-sized pieces before class.

Bringing a variety helps keep your dog engaged and motivated. When the rewards are novel, it is easier to keep your dog's attention and focus.

High-value options such as freeze-dried beef liver, cooked chicken, string cheese, or small pieces of hot dog are excellent choices when introducing new skills in a distracting new environment.

Monterey Dog Adventure Guides and Trainers use Wilderdog treat pouches and utility pouches.
