What to Expect
Spanish Bay (Moss Beach) offers a truly natural beach experience. With no formal amenities, it retains its wild, unspoiled charm. The beach is spacious and lightly visited compared to nearby tourist-heavy spots, giving dogs plenty of room to explore. Because tides and surf can vary, it’s best to keep an eye on ocean conditions and give dogs space from the water during high surf days.
Visitors should come prepared with fresh water, poop bags, and towels for sandy paws. The coastal views here are spectacular, especially at sunset, when the sky turns golden over the Pacific. It’s a great location for photography, relaxed playtime, or a quiet walk with your best friend. Visitors should note that if accessing Moss Beach from the South side by vehicle, they will need to pay the Pebble Beach entrance fee. Access is free if coming from the North side through Asilomar State Beach.
Tips for Visiting
Bring water and waste bags, no pet amenities are provided
Keep dogs under reliable voice control at all times
Be cautious of changing tides and rocky areas along the shoreline
Dispose of all waste in the garbage cans provided
Visit during low tide or early morning for the most space and serenity
Access from the North side to avoid paying the Pebble Beach entrance fee
